Internet Watch Foundation and Government
To help raise awareness of our Hotline and further our work combating criminal content online, the Internet Watch Foundation aims to have its work widely embraced throughout national and local government as well as internationally. As part of this we have launched a new IWF Champions initiative with the aim of further harnessing our political support.
We operate independently of Government, but are closely supported by the Home Office
, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills
and the Ministry of Justice
as well as working with the Department for Education
and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
and a number of Parliamentarians, Peers and MEPs who take an interest in our work.
IWF is a member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety
(UKCCIS) and has a seat on the Council’s Executive Board as well as representation on its working groups. Uniting over 100 organisations from the private and public sectors, UKCCIS works with the Government to deliver the recommendations from Dr Tanya Byron's report, Safer Children in a Digital World.
Wherever relevant and useful, we contribute to Government initiatives and public consultations.
