Ofcom Alliance
The Chief Executive of Ofcom, Stephen Carter, visited the offices of the IWF last month to learn more about how the IWF works to reduce the availability of child abuse images on the Net.
Ofcom and IWF are working together on the issue of media literacy which is increasingly important as broadcasting and the Internet converge.
The IWF contributed to the Ofcom Media Literacy Consultation earlier this year and also has representation on the Ofcom Consumer Panel in the shape of IWF Chairman, Roger Darlington and on the Ofcom Media Literacy Research Group through IWF Communications Co-ordinator, Fay MacDonald.

Peter Robbins, IWF CEO said of Mr Carter’s visit to Cambridgeshire:
“We very much welcome progression of this fledgling relationship with Ofcom and are keen to identify and pursue ways in which we can work together in our respective areas, in a complimentary manner.
Developing standards of Media Literacy is a key enabler towards educating the public about communications and information technology, within which the internet, of course, plays a significant part.”
